Revision of How do I edit or comment on an existing article? from Mon, 05/01/2009 - 13:37

Editing an article is completely straightforward: you simply click on the "Edit" button above a given article and make changes in the "Body" box. As with Wikipedia, all versions of an article are stored indefinitely, so if you are 90 percent certain that your changes improve the article, then the other 10 percent chance should not deter you from making those changes – it is easy to revert to an old version.

There are two kinds of comments on the Tricki: comments at the end of an article and inline comments. Comments at the end of an article will most likely be familiar to you if you have visited blog sites. To add one of these, simply scroll down to the bottom of the page, type in a subject-line for your comment, the comment itself, and click "Save". (If you are not logged in, the site may ask you to verify that you are human in order to cut down on spam submissions.) This comment will then appear at the bottom of the article.

While ordinary comments may be useful on occasion, we strongly encourage the use of inline comments, which are comments that will appear in the article itself. To add one of these, click on the text "Turn commenting on" in the Tricki toolbar at the top of the document. When inline commenting is switched on and you move your mouse cursor over sections of the article, these sections will be highlighted, allowing you to click on them. If you click on a section, a form similar to the one at the bottom of the page will appear, allowing you to submit a comment. This comment will then be added to the article in such a way that the symbol will be displayed directly after the section on which you clicked. Clicking on this symbol will display any comments associated with the preceding section.
