Solution of linear equations: direct methods

Stub iconThis article is a stub. This means that it cannot be considered to contain or lead to any mathematically interesting information.

Quick description

Direct methods are the most common methods for solving linear systems of equations. This is commonly achieved by using a matrix factorization, most particularly the LU factorization, although sometimes the Cholesky factorization, QR factorization or singular value decomposition is used.

Prerequisites

Linear algebra.
